Island of Gorgon 0279ca10
Island of Gorgon is a medium-sized, yet extremely dangerous spot belonging to Jean Beckett of the Yonkou. The evolutionary arms race on the island caused the plants, herbivores and predators to constantly evolve stronger abilities to secrete/resist poison, ending up with an enviroment that's lethal to all life hailing from outside. Due to the poison remaining in the bodies of animals and plants even after they die and become parts of soil, the water and ground are toxic aswell while the air is contamined by spores released by both fungi and vegetation; weaker crews can end up completely anihillated just by coming to the shore.

Island of Gorgon Empty Re: Island of Gorgon

Geography
-----------------------------------

Where Is It Located?

Gorgon is a place in the Grand Line, on the other side known as the New World and the frontier fortress of Jean Beckett's territores. The island is a heavily toxic spot where every part of the food chain evolved more and more toxic metabolism, turning even the soil, water and air on the island poisonous. Ironically, that prompted the higher organisms on the island to evolve even more toxic resistance, thus locking the ecosystem in a shaky and incredibly deadly balance.

If I Were To Visit, What Would I See?

  • Toxic Jungle - the outer part of the thick vegetation area of the island. The air is constantly filled with poisonous spores released by the plants, creating a border of 'sure death' for people not possessing enough pure resilience or resistance to take it. Building up an immunity is pretty much impossible without an anti-toxin, and even then it's extremely hard - causing every newcomer to be at great disadvantage against the predators living there.
  • Man-Eating Jungle - the inner part of the thick vegetation area. Called the 'Man-Eating' part since the toxicity of atmosphere increases to the point of being caustic, making skin burn when affected with any contact. Building immunity to this effect is outright not possible and anyone traveling this deep should wear dedicated protective clothing. Other reason for the name is that this part is a home of many giant predatory insects living on the island - and their venom is much more concentrated compared to the toxic air.
  • Drifting Fort - a mobile fort used by the Drifting Pirates and their allies, the structures were modified by John Hightide Junior to be able to move - using shape-memory alloys of own creation, he added the option of changing form and reshaping buildings into vehicles to create the most flexible defense station possible.
