Dialist - Coming from a family whose inventions were completely based on dial technology, Kaehlae was raised in such a creativity-filled house and has taken on making her own inventions and small constructions from an early age, carving sockets to make items compatible with the use of Dials and even building a Combiner, which combines two different dial's qualities.

Fast Learner - She has a keen mind to technology and engineering, having learned how the 'foreign technology' that at times came to Skypiea worked by exchanging for dials, opening it and analysing, to the point that she could even start replicating, given proper materials - eventually being able to pick up on how things functioned even faster than her parents, replicating said technologies to incorporate with Dials.

Dial Combat - Whether from close or long range, Kaehlae relies on trickery and gadgets for her fighting style, and most of said tricks are based on dial technology due to her experience with them. Through that, she has developed a quick wit on swapping dials from her belt, switching them from her Dial Combiner and even techniques on kicking absorbed air gushes from the Breath Dial on her feet, controlled bursts of speed or twisting your elbow upon Impact Dial's release to avoid the aftershock; despites that, said trickeries are used to make up for her lack of actual strength, which is her limitation.

Amateur Combatant - Her skills on combat with weapons are fairly spread out due to the various shapes which her Dial can take, as well as hand-to-hand. Though she can fight, at least enough to have good reflexes and a reasonable pain tolerance, most of her real fighting style is based on smarts, trickery and a lot of courage to stand up to the world, due to her severe limitation on pure strength compared to many in the New World.

Mantra - Though she was born a Dialist, where most had lost their spirituality upon tinkering with Dials and their interest on the Blues Seas technology, Kaehlae retained that with her simple and innocent mind. Mantra is the basis of her fighting style, with the precognition being required to use weapons with nearly no weight on their blades and keeping one step ahead of the enemy to trick him.

  • Bunseki Mantra - Kaehlae has a gift to analyse things, and abilities aren't an exception to that. Upon seeing something once, inherently to her Mantra, she's able to break the ability down within her mind, knowing how it's performed, what kind of destructive force is behind it, foreseeing trickeries - which makes her one step ahead of the opponent, knowing how she must act upon being attacked with certain techniques.

Kaehlae was born in Skypiea, within a family of Dialists. At the time of her birth, there was still a lot of conflict in the island - the Dialists, which wanted to welcome all the outsiders and took joy in learning from their technology, merging it with their dials, against much of the Birkans, who wanted to keep Skypiea shut and even conquer the Blues Seas. Kaehlae herself never understood the war - she grew with it and have never really been explained anything other than the basic "We're fighting for a better Skypiea". As she couldn't really do much, with her parents mostly busy building weapons to be used in the war, she used this one thing - technology - at first as a means to approach to them, have something to talk about and generally spend more time with them. As a child who, then, grew up with dismantling and using technology from the Blues Seas, it wasn't a real surprise that she grew to actually like it - but it was a surprise to see how easy for her it was to deal with them and know how did they function.

She always had a pretty innocent mind and didn't really seem to know - or maybe she just didn't register - what their inventions were used to, or at least that's what the people told themselves upon seeing a child working with war weapons. Yet still, despites her brilliant work with them and how she managed combine Dials with the Blues Seas technology into very destructive tools, she still retained all of that innocence; even when troubled, even with a sharp mind, she still had some naivety to her.

Maybe that same innocence was what motivated her into leaving Skypiea in the first place. When the Hero of Skypiea, Takeo Watanabe arrived and the conflicts against the God Followers ceased, all of Skypiea cherished; it was a bloodless end to the conflict as, when he beat the Sword of Skypiea, Kiri and even Biri herself, he let them go alive. That was the first idol Kaehlae started to admire, though silently and from afar, and once he left, she worked herself to improve as a person and a fighter - even though she had very little fighting skills.

Without having somebody to mirror herself on, Kaehlae turned to the God Followers, that were now ruling over Skypiea but very unlike before - and how she found another idol, Kiri - who she heard used to fight with a sword. Both of her idols fought with swords - so naturally, that's how she tried to fight with, trying to pick up on the basic moves of swordsmanship. It wasn't really a style cut for her; she often compensated her poor swordsmanship with the use of Dials, which she rationalised as a 'side thing' and stubbornly kept on the use of swords, which only truly hindered her. That lasted until Kiri left as well, not very long after Takeo - and this is when Kaehlae decided to leave Skypiea, to improve herself and seek her idols.

She left with a good bunch of Dials and a few inventions, such as her small ship propulsed with a breath dial. After landing on the Blues Seas, the problems started; at first, after finding an island, she had to find a Log Pose. Later problems happened with the lack of money - in which she turned to bounty hunting and, eventually, mercenary hunting for causes she considered fair; and with that, the problem of her fighting style once more emerged. It was hard to adapt to the sword when she kept resorting to tricks with her Dials, which were so much easier to use - and that lasted until she found something that changed her life. A Cloud Dial, that she had found didn't work on sea level - excepting this one, having fallen off Skypiea, mutated, adapting its life to sea level as well.

Wielding a blade that finally suited her - for it was hard like steel, yet light as cloud - she restarted her training on swordsmanship. It required a much different style, as the blade was way too light compared to a regular one; the training with this light sword required some sort of precognition, and that linked to Kaehlae's extremely innocent mind and her current pursue, awakened her Mantra, which turned her life for the best. Her mercenary work got more competent with the precognition that aided her swordsmanship - now with tricks that better suited her, as she could turn the sword into many different shapes using the Dial - as well as pulling Dials, as she'd know how her opponent was going to act before he did, something that she remembered to be the Mantraists' ability.

With the money she got from low bounties and her mercenary work, Kaehlae started to meddle with the Blues Seas technology on her own, buying them, dismantling to learn how did it work and assembling with the Dials she brought from Skypiea; travelling through Paradise with her lone boat, she ended up with lots of inventions - most of which were eventually dismantled - until she came up with what she called Dial Combiner - to unite her swordsmanship with her trickeries in a single device. That was shortly before she coated her small ship with the necessary 'resin bubble' and went to Fishman Island - and from there, to the New World.

She worked for years in the New World, sharpening her Mantra and fighting with tricks instead of her actual skill; she would use Breath Dials for sharp slashes, Impact Dials to keep up with a superior strength and Heat Dials to counter energy-based movements. Developing a great skill at reading the opponent's attack, she found it to be no different than how she readed technology - all it took was seeing its tiny pieces and how each fit into one another, making the masterpiece - and through knowing how things worked, her efficiency to counter it with tricks only increased. Her efficiency to beat pirates was mostly based on their ignorance from how Dials worked, mostly mistaking it with her own strength - and through that, she developed her sleight of hand to swap dials. She had grown more confidence, compared to the small Kaehlae that just left Skypiea, whilst keeping her innocent mind and determined personality.

That confidence is what made her first fall, under a job in Fishman Island - influenced by her background in Skypiea, Kaehlae accepted working for the nobles in the war that was opposing the island's royalty, mistaking their intentions; she was defeated there by the Fallen's First Mate, and only later came to realise that it ended in another bloodless conflict. Whilst her confidence suffered some under it - once more, she was overshadowed by somebody - it also gave her hope that there were more like that in the world; Angelique Delasangre, she came to know in the newspapers later. The same newspaper that showed her the job in Monarchia, to become one of the Royal Guard and aid the Kingdom that was in a post-war state - once more influenced by her background in Skypiea, growing with a civil war, she immediately took her small boat there.
