Geography
-----------------------------------

Where Is It Located?

Ginju is a place in the Grand Line, on the other side known as the New World, in the former territories of Athenias Bouvern. It's called the 'Silver Island' cause of the everpresent metallic sheen - even the sand is in the color of dark silver, partially cause of high iron content, partially cause of forge wastes. The entire island is an enclave for cyclopes, covered by rough but practical and durable housing made of tightly fit rocks, with the exception of Magma Forges - which are steel spires appearing like a volcanic eruption that solidified mid-air. The constant work occuring at the forges, factories and smithies causes a constant, thunder-like noise to come from the island, alarming anyone that approaches it - and making extended stay almost impossible for normal humans.

If I Were To Visit, What Would I See?

  • Polyphemes - the main 'city' and in fact the only one, this cyclopean 'metropolis' covers most of the area of the island. The buildings are made mostly of solid rock and steel, with the focus being practicality over comfort, even when it comes to inns provided to the merchants and visitors.
  • Magma Forges - giant factories built atop an active volcano shaft, the forges use lava as both fuel and resource for producing steel. Using giant, magnetized blocks of steel the magnetite-carrying lavas are separated from the rest and burned with charcoal to turn it into pure iron first, then a mix of that and carbon content - high quality steel. The steel is then immediately passed to factories and smithies located around, each contributing to the incredible noise that fills the island all day and all night.
  • Thunder Factories - thin spires built into the forges which seem to constantly crackle with electricity. There, the process of 'thunder forging' occurs, with weapons being covered with a special alloy combining gold and magnetite, giving them not only superior corrosion resistance, but the ability to build up an immense electric charge when moved in the strong magnetic fields of the Line.

Legends: Cyclopes
-----------------------------------

What exactly are they?

Cyclopes are a mythic race of large humans, possessing untold strength and skill with forging steel, distinguished by their singular eye placed in the middle of their forehead. Their abilities in creating armor and weaponry is legendary, passed in many myths - thus the other way to refer to their race is 'Godsmiths'.

What Special Traits are they said to possess?

  • Titanic strength - a cyclop the size of a large human is naturally physically stronger than a normal sized giant, the strength taking source from incredibly dense muscle and bone structure; every cyclop is able to bend cold steel and mold warmed one by hand, giving them incredible skill in creating customized, well-fit armor.
  • Super sight - while having a single eye slightly impairs cyclopes when it comes to depth perception, the ratio of its size to the size of their entire head gives them amazingly far range, wide-angled and sharp perception. The few cyclopes that scour the seas make great navigators due to that.
  • 'Thundersmiths' - a skill inherited from ancient Birkans, cyclopes are able to create weapons invoking the power of lightning thanks to the Line's magnetic fields.

Social structure.

The society of cyclopes is a pure meritocracy - the ones with greatest skill and knowledge ruling over others. It's a traditional and conservative approach and most of the titans are too busy with their work to ever question it.

Trade Information
-----------------------------------

What is the leading trade of the one-eyed titans?

Rather obviously, it's steelworking - weapons, armor, tools and machine parts, even raw steel sometimes - all of those are exchanged for food, gold and copious amounts of charcoal with the neighbouring countries. Currently, even Monarchia orders steel and armaments at Ginju, their forges and mines still in bad state after the war.
